Here is a short explainer of what we mean from our icons x

Natural fabric is woven or knitted from fibres that occur in our natural world. Some of the most common natural fabrics include cotton, wool, silk, hemp, leather, linen.

Locally sourced means that the product or brand is an Irish business and/or was Made In Ireland. We are proud to have many Irish brands here at Marlene & Co.

Recycled fabric is a fabric that has been made from waste material that is reprocessed into new fibers and then spun into new yarns and fabrics.

Handmade is made by someone using their hands or tools rather than by machines. A good example is our Hope Macaulay chunky knits. Made by hand with tender loving care!

Organic fibres are natural fibres grown without the use of synthetic pesticides (such as insecticides), or herbicides and GMOs (Genetic Modified Organisms) The international standard is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). All of the cotton garments at Marlene & Co are made from organic cotton.

Biodegradable fabrics refers to those fabrics which decompose quite easily and naturally using microorganisms. The biodegradability of fabrics is mostly determined by the amount of chemicals used in the textile life-cycle. One of the best biodegradable fabrics is organic cotton.

Minimal waste refers to a brand or product that generates little or no textile waste in their production processes.
