Tell us a little bit about Marlene & Co

Marlene & Co is an online womenswear retailer that operates out of Limerick, Ireland. The concept behind Marlene & Co is to curate beautiful pieces of clothing and accessories that have been sustainably made. All of the brands are independent labels, engage in ethical production processes, and share a vision of creating unique pieces that will last.

Our Commitment to Sustainable Fashion

Why did you choose the brands that retail on Marlene & Co?

We have chosen the brands with care for a multitude of reasons. To name a few, it may be the brand’s use of organic, natural, recycled or deadstock fabric, their low use of energy in their production processes, their ambition to change the mindset of how we consume, or their use of bi-products from other industries. Other products may be locally designed or sourced, handmade, or engage in small batch production.

You will see a strong Irish and Scandinavian influence in our choice of brands, and we love bright colours!

The brands are at various stages in their sustainable journey, and we are collectively on that journey together learning as we go. We invite you to come on this journey with us too.

Will you be expanding the brands that you work with?

There are many other independent labels we would love to work with in the near future, but as we are a small business, we have to take things one step at a time. Having said that, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’re a brand and you think you share the same vision as we do.

Who Founded Marlene & Co?

Marlene & Co was launched by Annmarie Nagle in 2022. Annmarie grew up on a farm in the southeast of Ireland, and credits her mother for teaching her about the importance of caring for our planet.

Annmarie is a graduate of UCD where she studied Bcomm International with Italian, followed by an Msc in International Management/CEMS MIM at the UCD Smurfit School. As part of her studies she spent eighteen months studying at the Bocconi University Milan, Italy where she immersed herself in fashion subjects.

Annmarie has a background in fashion and retail, having previously worked in Dunnes Stores buying office before becoming Country Manager for Concha Y Toro. She finished work to mind her three daughters, and during this time she worked as a Personal Stylist. She wanted to find a way of fusing her love of fashion and caring for our planet, and so Marlene & Co was born, named after her three daughters –Martha, Robin, and Leni.

“If you think about how something was made, or where it goes after you dispose of it, it will change how you consume forever”

Supporting Local

You will notice that many of the brands we work with are Irish. At Marlene & Co, we love to support local. Apart from local fashion brands, we work with local web designers, packaging, and marketing businesses. We are proud that many of our brands are Irish owned.
