Sissel Edelbo - Hedvig jacket - No. 303
Sissel Edelbo - Hedvig jacket - No. 303
The Hedvig Coat is a loose fit long coat upcycled from a kantha blanket. It is beautifully decorated all over with colourful suzani embroidery. The jacket is made with a delicate shawl collar and has dropped shoulders and wrist length sleeves.
The jacket has pockets at the front and comes with a detachable belt for a more feminine shape should you like to wear it closed. All seams and edges are covered by striped cotton tapes.
The beautiful embroidery on the jacket is done by hand by Indian artisans, using the tambour to create a unique and vivid Suzani embroidery pattern. The name “Suzani” comes from the Persian word "su-zan," meaning needle. The Indian artisans use a hooked needle instrument called a tambour to create the intricate chain stitching that is the hallmark of Suzani embroidery. When buying our Suzani embroidered styles, you are supporting local artisans and traditional Indian handcraft!
Each Hedvig jacket is unique due to the upcycled nature and handmade embroidery.
