Sissel Edelbo - Vilma jacket - Black
Sissel Edelbo - Vilma jacket - Black
The Teddy jacket is your quintessential cosy jacket to keep you warm all winter long.
It is an oversized bomber jacket silhouette made in a mix of teddy, vintage kantha blankets and crepe silk. The jacket has a small collar and panel pockets, a gold metallic zipper to the front and elasticated sleeve openings.
The front and back panels are decorated with patchwork made in kantha and is delicately trimmed with a feminine cotton ruffle of broderie anglaise. Vilma Mix Kantha Jacket is lined inside the body with soft teddy fabric and the sleeves are lined with reused crepe silk.
This unique item has parts that are upcycled from a vintage Kantha blanket. A kantha blanket is made of old cotton fabrics such as saris that are placed on top of each other and stitched together by hand, using the traditional kantha embroidery technique. This technique is characterized by the many rows of short, continuous stitches – a method that has been used in India for hundreds of years and especially common among women in the countryside. The kantha embroidery technique, creatively upcycles old cotton saris, previously worn by Indian women, giving them new life as upcycled clothing items, blankets, or bedspreads.
Each Kantha item is one-of-a-kind in both print and colour combination hence they are numbered.
